Peter Pan

Tonight Riis told me this story: "I hope that Santa brings me rolly chocolate (he means the Lindt milk chocolate truffles) just like Peter Pan brought me. He left them in my shoes and then left green footprints all over the table!" I said "Do you mean the leprechaun from school in Portland?" and he said "NO! I mean Peter Pan. HE left them for me, not the leprechaun!"

I thought that was a pretty good memory! On St. Patrick's day in Portland, Michelle, his AMAZING teacher, told the kids that "Paddy the leprechaun" had been there and there was chocolate in their shoes little green footprints all over the school, especially on the white table!

Riis' 4th birthday surprise

For Riis' 4th birthday we took him to ride a horse with his friend Toke from the børnehaven. He had so much fun and looked like a real cowboy up there on that horse!

Hanging at home

These kids are growing up fast! Riis is turning 4 next week and Beck loves to do everything that Riis does. I walked in the room the other day and Riis was trying out his gymnastic skills on our table. And they both use our couch as their jungle gym.

The beach in Århus

I took the kids to the beach in Århus this morning because Dag had a mountain bike race. There just happened to be an equestrian event happening. Pretty lucky day for the boys.

Halloween 2008

This Hallween was a bit uneventful for us since the Danes don't really celebrate. The kids don't dress up, but Riis really wanted to, so Riis and Beck went to their børnehaven dressed as knights. Here are some pictures of Sir Riis and Beck - the crazy spider head man! Both kids got stickers and a little frog cake as Halloween treats from Mommy and Daddy.

Updated from Denmark - Oktober 2008

Updates today from Denmark.

•We woke up to a frost today. It was 3.5ºC/38ºF when I took the kids to school. A bit chilly for my flip flops!

•I'm wearing flip flops today because of my broken pinky toe. D-U-M. DUM!

•Gas was down to 7,94DKK/liter today (BARGAIN PRICES!) and the line at the gas station was onto the street. (that is roughly $1.20 US/liter)

•I cannot believe that I am raising two boys and no girls. What gets me to this point of disbelief are things like this morning at 4:30 Riis woke up and came into bed with me. He was sniffling so I asked if he'd like a tissue. He sniffled again and said "No mum. I can just do this, see? A booger-lunch." I was disgusted and amused. Not sure where he comes up with these things!

•I decided to take the week off from riding my bike since Dag is in Rome. I've been riding 11 or so miles a day. Every day I ride the kids to the børnehaven (pre-school/daycare) and ride home. Monday-Thursday I ride into the city for my Danish class. After class I ride to the børnehaven to pick up the boys and we ride home. (Riis rides his bike and I have Beck in the baby seat on the back of my bike.) Anyway, I'm happy to have a week off even though I have been enjoying the riding and am really getting in shape.

•Last week we took our final trip to Legoland for the season. We went with some of our new friends: Erin, Paige and Blake. Lots of fun even in the rain... above are some pics of us at a 3-D Lego movie.

•Final note: my kids refuse to eat vegetables so I started hiding them in food. I've tried this for quite some time now. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The newest discovery is carrots in smoothies. Beck loved it!

Fall is here

The leaves have turned and we've had some beautiful fall days lately. We took advantage of the gorgeous tree in front of our house and took a slightly out of focus family photo in back of it.

Frog hunting

We went frog hunting in the woods this weekend.

Did you eat a lot of paint chips when you were a kid?

Painting with Beck ended in a scrub fest in the bathtub! He painted himself as well as the paper. video

Videos from September

Here are some videos from August and September. Beck loves to put his arms around Riis' waste and hold on while he walks around.

Also, Beck LOVES books. We read this dinosaur book a lot and after each page he says "NO!"

Misc. pics from August and September

Some updates: Beck and Riis love to be silly together. Beck is starting to repeat everything he hears and imitates everyone too! Riis is loving school and has lots of friends he likes to play with. We had a school party in the middle of August that all the families were invited to. There are some photos of that in this group. Also, we've taken advantage of our Lego Land season passes and have been a lot this summer.

Riis and Mommy toasting just to toast. Drinking juice out of wine glasses...we're quite fancy! Oh and Beck loves to chill on the couch every chance he gets. I find him sitting relaxing on the couch a few times every day.
