I told Riis that our friend Danny is playing a game for MLS in Portland in May and that we're going to try to get tickets to the game and he was so excited. He asked if his friend Viktor from his class here in Denmark could come because, in his words, "Viktor loves that Dirty guy...oh, wait! That Messy guy!" He ment Messi, who plays for Barcelona.

Riis has such a great outlook on moving back to the U.S. When I told him he won't see his best friend Toke for a while after we move he said "It's okay. We can just look at each other's pictures." :) At first, he did look pretty devastated when I told him we wouldn't be coming back to Denmark for a while. He was very concerned with the cool Lego ship he just built because I told him the the movers would have to break it down. Riis responded "Then I shouldn't have built that ship. I'll have to give it to Toke."

Riis just made my day! We were talking about exercising. He's asked me before if he'll get fat if he eats a lot of sweets and such. I told him he can have sweets now and then if he exercises. Now he keeps asking to exercise with me. At dinner I told him that he already got his exercise by swimming earlier today and his response was "NO. That didn't make my stomach go down." He the proceeded to do push-ups on the floor and imitate the 30-day Shred and said "I want my stomach to be as flat as a pancake, like you." I love this kid! :) Thank you, Riis.

I just got back from my wonderful 2 1/2 day whirlwind trip to ROMA with my friend Jean. We arrived on Sunday, 6 February mid-day and set foot in this truly amazing and historic city and we were blown away. There are no words to describe Rome. At any moment, you may stumble upon a 2000 year old structure or a 500 year old building that stops you dead in your tracks and leaves you shaking your head at the wonderment of it all.
Jean and I walked the city for a day and a half and saw as much as possible. On our third day in Rome we took a guided tour of the Vatican and explored the inside of the Castel Sant'Angelo and the Coloseum. Below are the photos from day one and two.
Via Palermo (for you Britt!)
Piazza del Campidoglio
Fontana di Trevi (one of my favorite things in Rome)
Piazza del Campidoglio by day
The Mouth of Truth
Trevi Fountain (the second time we were there we just happened to stumble upon it!)
Lunch, Day 2 in the Trastevere Neighborhood
The Smart car - notice the way it's park compared to the rest of the cars on the street! :)
